![]() ![]() I actually agree with a simple caveat: educate people widely on the actual dangers of opiates like we do with cigarettes and alcohol and then sell them otc with an age limit. "Inhale Deep" talks about how getting fucked up is way easier than doing something with your life. He also has other songs about addiction that point out different aspects of it without directly pointing a finger: "Neon Cathedral" touches on how much easier it is to go to a bar than it is to deal with your problems in a more healthy way. Yes, his songs are exaggerated, but if you combine his songs about addiction you start to see what he's going for: "Otherside" which placed a heavy focus on cultural influences from rap, "Starting Over" which placed the blame for his relapse primarily on his own weaknesses, "Kevin" and "Drug Dealer" which both pointed a finger at the healthcare system, then you can kind of see that he's really painted a picture of all these different issues that combined make it very easy for someone to get stuck in the cycle of drug addiction. "Kevin" on his last album was kind of aimed down the same path, "got anxiety go and give him a Xanex, focus give him Adderall, sleep give him Ambien, till he's walking round the city looking like a mannequin." He has struggled with addiction and has made it no secret, and i think most of his songs about it have a good bit of truth, or at the very least stem from a real problem. ![]() He consistently touches on addiction and the causes of it in all of his albums. ![]()
